- Get 3 cup cornmeal
- Make ready Water
- Make ready Spinach stew
- Make ready Tomato paste
- Make ready Scotch bonnet

- Make ready Curry

- Prepare Dry fish or protein of choice
- Take Stock or water
- Take Palm oil

The term tuwon masara is formed from two Hausa words; tuwo (cooked cornmeal) and masara (maize). The n added to tuwo is a preposition "of". Tuwon masara (cornmeal) and egusi soup ๐. Add lemon, stir or give the pot a little shake and turn off the heat.
Instructions to make Corn meal swallow (tuwon masara):
- In a clean pot, put water place on heat and bring to boil
- Sift 3 cups of cornmeal flour into a clean bowl
- Divide the mixture into two, use about 1 cup of the portion, mix with water to form a slightly thick paste
- Pour the paste over the boiling water on heat. The cinsistency should look like that (as shown in the picture) and allow it to cook for about 2-3min
- With a turning stick, pour the cornmeal set aside gradually over the paste on heat. Turn and knead until you have a thicker paste than the initial paste (not to thick)
- Mix until smooth. Cover the pot, reduce the heat and alloe it to simmer for few more minute. Scoop or mold and serve with your favorite soup. I served mine with vegetable stew
- For the spinach stew; wash your all your vegetables
- Heat oil in a pan, add sliced onion, ginger and garlic paste. Saute onion and fry till fragnant. Add your crushed scotch bonnet and onion mixture. Fry for some minutes
- Add your tomato paste and fry for 5min
- Add your seasoning, spices and locust beans. Stir in very well
- Add your stock or cup of water
- Wash and soak your dry fish and add it up to the stew. At this point you can add a pinch of baking powder if it taste sour.adjust seasoning to taste
- Wash your spinach with salt and water and drain well
- Add it up to the stew
- Stir in and remove from heat. Do not over cook it
- Serve with your tuwon masara and enjoy with your family member.
